Ingredient transparency & skin compatibility

Every Nature’s Promise soap formula begins with a certified organic oil blend—primarily olive, coconut, and sustainably harvested shea butter. We use cold-process saponification, which preserves the natural glycerin produced during the reaction; commercial soaps often remove this humectant and sell it separately, leaving behind a harsher cleansing base.

Our bars and liquids carry a pH of 5.5, the same mildly acidic level as healthy human skin. This matters because traditional alkaline soaps (pH 9–10) disrupt the acid mantle, the protective film that shields against bacteria and moisture loss. By matching your skin’s own chemistry, our formulas cleanse effectively without triggering dryness or irritation.

Formulation process & quality assurance

Each batch of Nature’s Promise soap is mixed, poured, and cured in our Vermont facility under Good Manufacturing Practice protocols. After saponification, bars rest for four weeks to complete the curing cycle; this waiting period allows excess water to evaporate and the pH to stabilize, resulting in a harder, longer-lasting bar.

We test every production run for pH, microbial contamination, and lather performance. Our liquid pumps undergo viscosity checks to ensure consistent dispensing—too thin and the formula wastes product, too thick and the pump clogs. Bar soaps are weighed to guarantee you receive the full advertised ounce count.

Styling

Usage guidance & care tips

For bar soap, store on a well-drained dish between uses. Pooled water softens the base and shortens lifespan; a slotted bamboo tray or wire rack keeps the bar dry and firm. In humid climates, we recommend cutting a 4 oz bar in half and using one piece at a time while the other rests in a cupboard.

Liquid pumps dispense approximately 1.5 mL per press—two pumps suffice for handwashing, three to four for a full body lather in the shower. Avoid diluting the concentrate with water in the bottle; this can introduce bacteria and compromise preservative efficacy. If you prefer a foaming dispenser, transfer the liquid to a compatible pump and dilute 1:4 with distilled water just before use.

Finally a soap that doesn’t dry out my hands
I wash my hands constantly at work, and most soaps leave them cracked by midday. This one actually leaves a hint of moisture behind. The lavender scent is subtle—not overpowering like the stuff in mall stores. I’ve been using the same bar for six weeks and it’s barely halfway gone.

Cleared up my daughter’s eczema flare-ups
Our pediatrician recommended switching to fragrance-free products, so we tried the unscented bar. Within two weeks, the red patches on her elbows were gone. We haven’t looked back.

Love the citrus-mint pump for the kitchen
I keep this next to the sink for quick hand rinses while cooking. It cuts grease without that sticky residue some dish soaps leave on your skin. The scent wakes me up in the morning without being chemical-smelling.

Great soap, wish it came in bigger sizes
The quality is top-notch—lathers well, rinses clean, and the ingredients list is exactly what I want. Only complaint is the 4 oz bar runs out faster than I’d like for a family of four. A 6 oz option would be perfect.

Packaging is refreshingly honest
No plastic, no fancy windows, just a simple paper wrap with clear ingredient info. I appreciate that they trust the product to speak for itself instead of relying on marketing gloss. The soap inside delivers.

Septic-safe and actually works
We’re on a septic system in a rural area, so I’m careful about what goes down the drain. This soap breaks down quickly—I’ve had zero issues—and it still cleans just as well as the harsher brands I used to buy.

Good to know

Common questions about Nature’s Promise soap

Our formulas are designed to minimize irritation, with a pH of 5.5 that matches healthy skin and zero synthetic fragrances or sulfates. Many customers with eczema, rosacea, and contact dermatitis report success with our unscented bar.

That said, individual triggers vary widely. We recommend patch-testing on the inside of your wrist for 24 hours before full-body use. If you have a documented allergy to coconut, choose the bar over the liquid pump, since the liquid contains coconut-derived surfactants.

With proper care—storing on a well-drained dish between uses—a single 4 oz bar typically lasts one person six to eight weeks of daily handwashing and showering. Families often see three to four weeks per bar.

Lifespan depends heavily on storage. Bars left sitting in water dissolve two to three times faster than those kept dry. A slotted tray or wire rack extends usability significantly.

Yes, though facial skin is more delicate than body skin, so we recommend starting with the unscented bar if you have a history of breakouts or sensitivity. The pH-balanced formula won’t strip natural oils the way high-alkaline soaps do.

If you wear heavy makeup or sunscreen, you may need a dedicated oil-based cleanser first; our soap excels at everyday cleansing but isn’t formulated to break down waterproof cosmetics.

No. We hold Leaping Bunny certification, which requires that neither we nor our ingredient suppliers conduct, commission, or pay for any animal testing at any stage of product development.

Our safety and efficacy data come from in-vitro lab tests, human patch studies with paid volunteers, and historical use records for each botanical ingredient.

Both share the same organic oil base and pH 5.5 target, but the liquid pump includes plant-derived surfactants to maintain pourable consistency and uses a broader-spectrum preservative system since it contains more water.

The bar undergoes traditional cold-process saponification and contains no added water, so it requires no synthetic preservatives. If you have coconut sensitivities, the bar is the safer choice; the liquid uses coconut-derived cleansing agents.

Currently we don’t offer refill pouches—our priority has been ensuring the liquid formula remains stable and contamination-free throughout its shelf life, and refill logistics introduce variables we haven’t yet solved at scale.

We encourage customers to repurpose empty bottles for DIY cleaners or return them at participating retail partners for recycling. We’re actively testing refill prototypes and hope to launch a program within the next year.

Yes. All our surfactants are readily biodegradable under OECD 301 standards, breaking down within 28 days in aerobic conditions. The formulas contain no phosphates, chlorine, or synthetic polymers that harm beneficial bacteria in septic tanks.

Hundreds of customers on septic systems and greywater recycling setups report zero issues. If you irrigate gardens with greywater, avoid the scented versions near edible plants—essential oils, while natural, can affect soil microbiomes in high concentrations.
