Nature’s Promise Tofu | Organic, Non-GMO Tofu

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

Nature’s Promise tofu is made from organic, non-GMO soybeans and filtered water—nothing else. We press each block to a firm, sliceable texture that holds its shape during cooking while absorbing marinades beautifully.

This tofu works in everything from crispy stir-fries to grilled skewers. The clean ingredient list means you get pure soy protein without fillers, additives, or preservatives. Each 14-ounce block provides roughly four servings of complete plant protein.

We source our soybeans from certified organic farms and use a traditional coagulation process. The result is tofu with a mild, neutral flavor that takes on whatever seasonings you pair it with. Whether you’re pan-frying cubes, scrambling crumbles, or blending it into smoothies, our tofu adapts to your recipe.

Organic Soybeans & Simple Processing

Our tofu starts with whole organic soybeans grown without synthetic pesticides or genetically modified seeds. We soak the beans, grind them into soy milk, then coagulate that milk using food-grade calcium sulfate—the same mineral compound traditional tofu makers have relied on for centuries.

The curds are pressed into blocks and packed in filtered water. No bleaching agents touch the soybeans, and we never add texture modifiers or shelf-life extenders. You’ll find exactly two ingredients on the package: organic soybeans and water.

Texture & Cooking Performance

Nature’s Promise tofu is classified as firm, meaning it holds its shape when cubed or sliced. After draining the packing water and pressing the block for 15–20 minutes, you’ll have tofu dry enough to crisp in a hot pan or hold together on a grill grate.

The firm structure makes it ideal for stir-fries, where high heat and frequent tossing can break apart softer varieties. You can also marinate pressed tofu overnight—the sponge-like interior soaks up soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger without falling apart.

Nutritional Profile & Protein Content

Complete Plant Protein

Each four-ounce serving of Nature’s Promise tofu delivers approximately 10 grams of protein containing all nine essential amino acids. Soy is one of the few plant foods offering a complete amino acid profile, making it a valuable protein source for vegetarians and vegans.

The tofu is naturally low in saturated fat and contains no cholesterol. You’ll also find small amounts of iron, calcium (from the coagulant), and magnesium in every serving. Because our ingredient list is minimal, the macronutrient breakdown remains consistent from block to block.

Perfect texture for stir-fries
I press this tofu for about 20 minutes and it crisps up beautifully in my wok. The firm texture holds together even with high heat and lots of stirring. I’ve been using it twice a week for months.

Great for meal prep
I marinate a whole block on Sunday night and cube it for lunches all week. It absorbs flavor really well and stays fresh in the fridge for several days after opening. Solid pantry staple.

Excellent grilled tofu
I slice this into planks, brush them with barbecue sauce, and grill them alongside vegetables. The tofu gets nice char marks and doesn’t fall apart on the grate. My non-vegan friends actually ask for seconds.

Good to know

Common Questions About Nature’s Promise Tofu

Drain the packing water from the package and wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or several layers of paper towels. Place the wrapped block on a plate and set a heavy object—such as a cast-iron skillet or a cutting board topped with canned goods—on top. Let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes. The weight will squeeze out excess moisture, leaving you with firmer tofu that crisps better and absorbs marinades more effectively.

You can also use a dedicated tofu press if you cook with tofu frequently. After pressing, the block will shrink slightly but hold its shape much better during cooking.

Yes, freezing tofu alters its structure and creates a chewier, spongier texture. Place the unopened package or the drained block in the freezer overnight. When you’re ready to use it, thaw the tofu in the refrigerator or under cold running water, then press out the water.

Frozen-then-thawed tofu has larger pores and a meatier bite, which many people prefer for dishes like stir-fries, curries, or grilled skewers. The process doesn’t affect the nutritional content—it only changes the physical texture of the soy protein.

Nature’s Promise tofu is classified as firm, meaning it contains less water than soft or silken varieties but slightly more than extra-firm. Firm tofu is versatile enough for pan-frying, baking, grilling, and scrambling. It holds its shape well but still absorbs marinades effectively.

Extra-firm tofu has even less moisture and a denser structure, making it ideal for recipes where you need the tofu to stay very intact—such as skewers or deep-frying. If a recipe specifically calls for extra-firm and you only have our firm variety, simply press it for a longer period to remove additional water.

Yes, this tofu is both gluten-free and vegan. The only ingredients are organic soybeans and water, with calcium sulfate used as a natural coagulant. There are no animal products, dairy derivatives, or gluten-containing grains in the formula.

It’s suitable for anyone following a plant-based, vegan, or gluten-free diet. The tofu is also cholesterol-free and contains no preservatives or artificial additives.

Once opened, Nature’s Promise tofu stays fresh for up to one week if stored properly. Drain the original packing water, rinse the block under cold water, and place it in a clean, airtight container. Cover the tofu completely with fresh water and refrigerate.

Change the water daily to keep the tofu fresh and prevent off odors. If the tofu develops a sour smell, slimy coating, or unusual discoloration, discard it immediately. Always check the best-by date on the package for unopened tofu.

This firm tofu excels in stir-fries, grilled skewers, baked cubes, and scrambles. Its structure holds up to high heat and frequent movement in the pan, so it won’t crumble during cooking. You can marinate cubed tofu overnight and then pan-fry or bake it until crispy on the outside.

It also works well in curries, soups, tacos, grain bowls, and noodle dishes. For a creamier application, blend pressed tofu into smoothies, desserts, or salad dressings. The neutral flavor profile means it adapts to virtually any cuisine or seasoning blend.

No, this tofu is made exclusively from organic, non-GMO soybeans. Our soybeans are sourced from certified organic farms that prohibit the use of genetically modified seeds, synthetic pesticides, and chemical fertilizers.

The organic certification ensures full traceability from farm to package, so you can trust that no genetically engineered ingredients are present. If avoiding GMOs is important to you, look for the USDA Organic seal on the package, which guarantees non-GMO compliance.
